Guest Post: When did that happen?

Today I was out in the world when I came upon a young man parked in a shiny new car. What caught my attention is he had the car's music system 'ahem, music' thumping a base that hurt my teeth. I stopped and looked at him thinking to my self, he one of those, the ones who will not be prepared and most likely not survive.

When did that happen?

I seem to have started classifying people as those that are awake and understand the full breath of danger our civilization is in and those whom I tend to simply classify as lost.

I wounder if it's just me doing this mental exorcise that separate the goats from the lambs or is this a common occurrence? I don't think I'm being spiteful or high handed with this thought process for I don't do it purposely.

Should I have knocked on his window 'yes his windows were rolled up' and preached to him that time is short and there is much to prepare. And who am I to think I can preach to anyone about the future?

When did that happen?

How can I change societies apathy, an apathy that will surly leave the starving, running hither and yon ' I always wanted to write that ' calling out for salvation? Being aware, does this give me the burden to be the crier sounding the alarm of impending doom? Oh why didn't I study philosophy at college? I remember, something like, I can't make a living as a philosopher.

So now I am left with these feelings of remorse and dread. Lord I pray, how many should I try to save, one, five, a hundred? Which do I try and save, just the children, women and children, who Lord, am I left to make the decision?

When did that happen?

I am but just one person, ineffectual at best, I probably can't even save myself, why am I so concerned with saving the world?

My soul, I am part of the human race and empathy allows me to reach out to those in need, unlike the demons we battle. Feelings are not a weakness, I pray we never lose them, but I concede in war and preparing for battle they can be a great burden.

I am not a battle harden solider, I can not conceive the mental discipline that is needed, but that discipline will be necessary for all of us to appropriate and wear like armor, just to keep our sanity.

Though I am aware that many shall die and that there is nothing on God's green earth I can personally do to change that, I must continue the fight. My eyes may have tears, I shall not relent, the trigger awaits my hand.

Daddy's little girl is all gown up.

When did that happen?

  1. K,
I know that you will understand what I quote here, albeit, slightly modified.

The present society is a system. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.

  2. Good post here. Though I am resolved to what is coming, on occasion, in the darkness of my mind, late at night, those feelings of futility and ineffectiveness creep in. I've let them play around for a while, it's something I have to recognize if for no other reason than to know how to combat it. But if anything, a heavy heart motivates me to strive harder for the cause.
Dark days are indeed coming and many will be consumed, but ultimately our cause is right and just, so victory must be ours.

  3. Excellent post.. All of us who are "AWARE" think like this at times about many people that we pass and even those who are in our own families. You want to tell them something and sometimes shake them and say look and wake the hell up. but One person will not do it. Only together can we fight for a cause that is righteous and give our children a better future. Pray for the innocent that get caught up in the turmoil and let God sort the rest of them out.

  4. I have learned that neither can you save anyone (directly) nor is it your duty or responsibility to even bother trying - even though we do.

What we are experiencing this moment in time is analogous to the story of the "Three Little Pigs", the moral(s) of which has been lost on today's society.

We are building brick houses (preparing) while the general population has built straw and stick houses (some none at all) and frolics in the street. After the wolf (.gov) has blown the straw and stick houses down, those not yet eaten will seek out the brick houses, either to gain entry and accommodation or to kill us out-right and take what we have built and prepared for. The guy in the boom box-on-wheels will be one of those.

In my mind, this is the time that will truly try our souls! Will you let them in? Who will you let in? How many will you let in? I honestly don't think I can answer this question until the time comes - assuming my brick house is still standing.

  5. Emily I know exactly what you are talking about. I know people that have an $8000 stereo in a $500, broken down Dodge minivan. This is no teenager either, I think he's 50. He can't put food on the table or to get the car fixed, but refuses to sell the stereo equipment because it is a status symbol. Very sad.

But don't give up trying to get peoples heads out of the sand, or their asses.
Everyone we save is one less we'll have to shoot.

  6. Might I say that we live in the age of Google! Is anyone really going to stand before holy God and say; I didn't know? Being, Ignorant. Means you have to be ignoring something!
Point being, if your lost, you want to be. Satanic rap, boom box bass, etc. cost alot more than a bible.
I think the more pointed question we should be asking ourselves is the one i keep asking my wife."Just when should have Lot left sodom?"
She laughs, to me its a serious question.Go get a cave with a view. or run screaming for your life. Don't look back! Ha!.........MTHead

    1. "Go get a cave with a view."... this sentiment has passed thru my mind and heart often.... trouble is, " For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself." Romans 14:7... so onward we each go... i don't mean this as rebuttal nor rebuke, just statement of a truth...

    2. This is because man was made for community, PP. It is a natural need and desire to have others of like mind and belief to surround ourselves with. Not only for our own benefit, but to establish the opportunity to be of assistance to one another; to love each other, and to see ourselves through the eyes of others we trust, towards a more full knowing of ourself, and ultimately as a tool by which to see ourselves as God see us.

    3. Double P: rhetoric bro! Well maybe, go ask Mrs.K if moving from metro D.C. to St.Maries Id. wasn't basicly getting "a cave with a view". Just say'in.
LT, absolutely. But when your community looks, smells, an acts like Sodom and Gomorrah. I'll ask again, When should have Lot left? Your choice. Be thankful. Evil doesn't have one!........MTHead

  7. Nothing wrong with that. Casually judging passerby and carefully choosing with whom you might build new relationships with based on the simple criteria of "who will still be here one year in" is an advanced consolidation technique. It seems cold when your thinking about it in the moment. But then consider the beneficial character judgements you make using that thought process and your own chances better exponentially. The cut and dry split second casual (in my own head of course) decision never bothers me but choosing whether or not to try to spend the months and years just to wake someone... I usually think on that for a while. -R
