The nice thing about the Texas State Guard is that it is reports ONLY to the Governor of Texas. It CAN NOT be federalized at any time, unlike the National Guard. There are a few states that have their own State Guard/Defense Force that are strictly independent of federal Army oversight/command.
Governor Abbott is a true leader in that he recognized peoples concerns and took actions to address said concerns.
