Not for my audience

This post is not for anyone in my audience or anyone coming to the Citadel PatCom.

This post is for the countless f'n idiots Holly and I run into during our travels at motels across the country.

Our dogs are Akitas.  They are Japanese hunting dogs.  Like Pit Bulls, they hunt bear and boar and deer - they are hearty of disposition and generally consider ALL 4-legged creatures to be practice prey for real hunting - said bear, boar and deer.  That means, my slow-witted motel-sharing countrymen, that just because your cute little Boxer, German Shorthair, Beagle or other dog is of sweet disposition and you think it is fine to let them out off-leash - when your stupid little fuckin' dogs run up to my dogs to play and make nice-nice - who are ALWAYS on a leash when out - my dogs do NOT consider how happy-happy your little fur-buddy may be before they kill it.

Please outgrow your stupid before my dogs end up killing one of yours.  I'd rather they kill YOU than your dog, but that isn't how it works.  I can only pick up and hold my 110 pound boy for so long while he tries to get free of my loving embrace to eat your little ankle-biter while you run across the courtyard apologizing.  If I didn't like dogs so much, I'd let mine kill yours.  But that's not me.

So, at least now it is public record - I have warned the world.  My dogs will eat yours if they are off leash and come to "play".

Sweet Gods we need to cull the herd of stupid people in America.

    A job of immense proportions.

  2. After a brief conversation with an adorable 15-year-old girl in Bozeman about the perils of letting her boxer run around off-leash, I ended up giving away a static leash to said sweet little girl whose boxer was running around off-leash. I happen to love dogs -- all dogs. It was my way of keeping her dog, Pete, safe from our hunters. Hiro & Hana are great with people--provided they don't see the person as a threat to me.

With other four-legged creatures, their lower brain goes into instant kill mode. CK and I have exerted considerable effort protecting other people's pets from our hunters. People who stay at Pet-Friendly motels, should not assume all pets are "friendly" to their pets.

There will come a time when I cannot control our boy "Hiro" (Who weighs more than do I)from killing another family pet. It will break by heart. But people with pets need to be responsible for their beloved pet's safety. I am exceedingly tired of people who play fast and loose with their pets. A little common sense would be so appreciated.

  3. How about this?! --Leash up your aggressive mutts so that they won't kill other people dogs?! Simple huh?!

FYI--you and your mutts are not the center of the universe.

There are many, many places in this country where your lack of control over your animals would land you in civil and criminal court.

    1. Anon: Thank you for identifying yourself as the dumbest motherfucker to ever read this blog.

I wrote that my dogs are ALWAYS LEASHED you illiterate waste of genetic material.

Why don't you sign your name? Mike? Firestone? Ryu? Carol? No matter. Not only are you dumber than a sack of hammers, you are a coward who won't sign his/her name.

Die, please. I'd suggest suicide, but you'd probably fuck that up too.

      Fucking idiot.

  4. Kerodin,

I grew up with Norwegian Elkhounds and I understand the power of predatory dog breeds like Akita's.

Now I have four adopted ankle biting mutts, three of which are 10 pounds or under. I keep that pack at my mothers house that act as the best prowler and burglar sentry system. Eight ears that are always listening in "passive mode" and bark and act as pack alerting my mother who is hard of hearing so she can retrieve her firearm if needed.

I can say with pride that our pack is kept on leases when in public and that pack is always under our control. We keep those little dogs from interacting with dogs that we know are threats such as pit bulls and other predatory dog breeds. Caution and common sense when owning dogs is paramount.

    1. Thanks, Captain. I know we are talking about dogs, not world peace, but the topic does directly relate to many of our problems in America. Too many of our countrymen are so self-consumed and irresponsible to cover the basics required to exist in a civil society.

My dogs are animal aggressive (and they aren't too sure about adults who get too close to Holly ;), so we take extreme measures to ensure they do not get into a position to hurt anyone or kill some family pet. It is a LOT of work. So when some idiot comes out of a motel room with their little Spot off-lead and he makes a mad dash for my dogs, Spot will be in the meat grinder, but Spot's owner is the true negligent idiot who doesn't deserve to own a dog.

It's basic common sense and civic responsibility.

By the way, I love the little ankle biters for what they do best (as you know) - raise the alarm when your mother needs to pay attention to something beyond the walls. ;)

      Stay safe.

  5. I just have a little beagle but he's got a thing about other animals - when he meets another 4 legged creature he becomes a hunter. Completely. Even bigger dogs. Deer. Doesn't matter the size, he gets mean. He is on a leash at all times outside, but people just don't get it. They bring up their little gay dogs even if I warn them away, and are then surprised and shocked that my dog goes for them. Ding dongs, all of them.

  6. We go through the same thing also. Our Akita is always on a leash, is always on a tie out at our front door, or with us . We don't have a fenced yard, so had to deal with other people that let their dogs run loose.
Some would not leave diesel alone. He would have enough and one of the only times he barks, he would let out that big, deep load bark, usually just one bark , with a snap, and would never have trouble again.
He liked to pulled me down a few times wanting to go after deer, and hates cats, and little dogs.
But we wouldn't have any other, he helps us, and we help him.

  7. I have seen "cute little adorable ankle-biting" dogs nip at small children. So regardless of the size or breed, it just takes the right "wrong" situation for a dog to become aggressive. The only responsible thing for a pet owner to do is to leash the dog, especially around kids and other dogs. Thank you for discussing this topic, it's one of my pet peeves ~cue groaning~.

  8. I own five medium sized shepherd dogs, of various breeds. They are wonderful around my children, but I do fear for anyone that comes up quickly upon them. Among the fools who let their dogs off the leash are idiots that decide that every dog they see is fucking Lassie.

  9. Akitas are not even top 10 in terms of aggressive dogs. What's the problem?

    1. Anon: You're right. They are only "people aggressive" in a defensive role of their pack.

But when it comes to critters, they are lizard-brain hunters. Anything on 4 legs dies. So when some dummy lets his little flopsy off-leash and flopsy runs over to my dogs to say "Good morning, Mr. Friendly Dog!" - they get eaten. ;)

  10. Dog owners are responsible for their own animals - their safety. The same people wouldn't blame a car for hitting their dog if it got in the street, yet they'll scream bloody murder if it was killed getting in another dog's perceived territory.
Personally, I'm cautious of ALL dogs.
