What's out there?

What's *not* out there?

Crowds?

  1. I've been hearing that the reloading tables are being picked clean of all their primers. Primers of sort of hard to find, even the caps for muzzie loaders.

  2. I was at a gun show in central washington last week. The ammo is gone and you can't find an AR for under two k. On the other hand, the guy at the gun shop says the people seem to be calming down... Maybe because we're all armed now? Just sayin....

  4. Show in Denver today. There were things to purchase but prices extremly inflated. ARs at $2500 plus, large pistol primers at $80 per thousand, PMAGS at $50 each, mil mags at $25 each used, on the better side I found AR lowers for $200. High but reasonable given the current state. The craziest was one patron with a sign that said "550 box of .22lr for $50 and that was the cheapest! One seller was asking $175 for a box of 500!

  5. Bought a stripped ar lower before thanksgiving for $70. Got one at Christmas for $115. Saw one at a gun show today for $350 and a private seller had one he wanted $1,000 for. A stripped lower! Most ammo gone by noon. Gunstore won't sell .22lr or .223 ammo unless gun is purchased at the same time. All other ammo is one box per customer per day. WTF

  7. Delton has no eta for bolt carrier assemblies. I was going for spare parts kit. Now I'm kicking myself. I suspect metals and such raw materials is somehow being manipulated. Not even a trickle of some kind of production that gives me warm and fuzzies. Again my motto, you see it you better grab it.

    1. Scott: Even before Sandy Hook there was talk in the manufacturing circles that a lot of cheap metal was coming into the country - some already as parts.

Bad things will happen if folks aren't careful and they buy sub-standard parts or use sub-standard metal in that AR.

  8. Anyone see any prices on 0% lower forgings? I'm taking some to our show, and would like a price to put on them.

  9. Same in SW Arkansas. Its all dried up. No AR,s but a local pawn shop just got a shipment of 20 ruger 10/22 at $399 a pop. I bought another for myself for barter. I had to have brakes put on my wifes car and in the conversation with the mechanic I found out he needed 22 shells. There like gold around here. I bought the pads and he did the labor for 400 rounds of CCI mini mags.

  10. Sold four bricks of 22LR for 100 bucks a brick to a shop this weekend, they were willing to take all 30,000 rounds......I declined the offer.

  11. we have 3 or 4 ar's in the shop, prices dropping some. ZERO ammo except premium stuff at 50 bucks a 20rd box. starting to see ar mags again, running 25 bucks or so. no decent handguns, just off brand, and no handgun mags. the shop had a lower that was 69.00, on sale for 350.00. they said one guy bought a s&w15 in november for 850 and brought it back the other day, sold it for 1500. he'll regret that i think.

  12. Walmart web site pretty much has taken down all ammo listings---up until a few weeks ago---Walmart did list the ammo mfg/type/case amount and store availablity....all of that is gone. Checking several Walmart superstores once a week---I don't see ammo coming in at all even though they say they are getting shipments.

  13. Portland, Oregon show. ARs available in a pretty good selection starting at $1200 and rising rapidly from there. Complete upper assemblies, $800-1000. Lots of magazines available. Aluminum, $20-25, Magpul, $35-50. One table had cases of Magpul at $40 per in case lots. Locally produced 80% billet lowers for $250. Locally produced barrels available also. Lower parts kits tight and $120 each, bolt carrier groups $300-400, lowers $300.

Handguns available. However, the biggest dealer (20+ 8 foot tables) had about four tables that were completely empty by Saturday of a three day show. NEVER seen empty tables at his display in the last ten years.

Reloaded 9mm at $90/250, .223/5.56 mostly $.75/round with good supply available, .22 available but didn't get a price.

  14. Local Gander Mt. put out sale bill saying big gun and ammo sale this weekend. I went there at opening saturday and they didn't have anything they advertised. I didn't really need anything but wanted to get extra. No .22, 7.62x39 , almost no pistol ammo. One fella who was waiting too had drove from Tennessee needless to say he was pissed. Managers reply was " We don't put out that flyer" so thats my last trip to that store.
I went to the locally owned gun store and had to park at the highway and walk to get in. I've never seen so many folks in there, they had to limit people to 10 boxes of ammo. They had several ARs and allot of AR mags. Most people were buying handguns and ammo. They were taking orders for ARs And I saw 2 sold in the hour I was in there.

  15. Went to the gun show in Fremont, NE this past weekend. A couple of observations:

    1) Very diverse crowd. Young, Old, Black, White, Purple, Kids, dogs, etc.
    2) A lot of price gouging going on. A DPMS stripped lower receiver for $1200. A lot of guys thinking the $700 rifle they bought 2 years ago is now worth $2000.
    3) A good amount of ammo out there. Saw 9mm target for $30.00 per 100, Brick of 22LR Winchester Bulk Pack for $40.00.
    4) A lot of bullion sellers and buyers at this one. Glad to see that people are diversifying when they buy gold and silver.

    My words of wisdom -

If you find something you want, buy it, get it and hold onto it.

Stay low and keep your powder dry!

  16. Palm Beach Florida - extreme gougiing! 223 was at a buck a round, lots of AR's at 1800 and up. Mostly over 2000. Attendance was SRO with lots of bangers wandering around. P38's that were 4 for $1 last show were $1 each. In-freaking-sanity!

  17. Atl. suburb local store/range still looks wiped out since my last visit. Entire case dedicated to Kimber(10+) when it used to hold various 1911's maybe 20-30 a display case. Used to be a pretty large Glock shop but only saw 2 and one was a 10mm which to me is an odd round as to why it's still there, but may be only thing to find ammo for due to its uniqueness. That case was pretty bare. Surprisingly 1 Kimber Solo when you couldn't find one before the panic. 2 Springfield XD's when they used to have at least 20-30 a case maybe. Still only bolt action rifles. All uppers on the wall (.223 and .300 blackouts) gone. Plenty of lowers going for about $300 + (Noveske). Various amounts of ammo. Could swear I overheard behind counter they had about 300rds of .22 that went within the day. For the range they limit 1 box or 100rds of .223 PMC.

  18. Monroeville, PA gun show. In December they charged $7 for admission. In February the fuckin pirates charged $9. The lines where insanely long to get in and it was cold that day. 45 minute wait. Once in, it was a cattle drive to the reload tables. I got 1,000 cci small rifle primers for $37 a box. Found steel .223 ammo for $775 per 1,000. A lot of steel 7.62x39 cases for $400. Another table had a case of 5,000 wolf small rifle primers for $140. Bolt carrier group for $150, lowers for $200+, pmags $30+, GI Mags $30+. All tables were stocked and the prices were not bad, but I have seen better. There was no .22LR ammo except for one table that had a box of 500 thunderbolt for $50. I got some stuff and it was worth the trip. Next show I beleive is april 27 & 28.

  20. Went to two different gun stores in last two days and they appear to be getting new inventory in. One had a pallet of .223 arrive as I was leaving range. Some of the range ammo there was still sparse. More pistols are showing up and a few rifles including an AR here and there. One is only selling ammo with gun purchase because of supply. I'll be returning to range again tomorrow to see if it's holding up.
