Oh Sandy, II
I hope everyone is watching the headlines from the areas that were hit by Sandy.
If you had any doubts about how thin the veneer is between "Civilized Citizen" and "Me first", those doubts should be put to rest. Looting and fights over gasoline, even when FRN's are still worth something. The aftermath of Sandy, particularly how people conduct themselves, should affirm for everyone that commodities are more valuable than FRNs and even gold in a SHTF world.
The S has not HTF in Sandy's wake. These are minor delays and inconveniences.
In a real SHTF world, there will be no re-supply. That's when everyone will lose their smiles and facades. That's when a can of beef stew will cost you an ounce of gold, or more. That's when bullets, beans, band-aids and buddies will be worth far more than their weight in gold.
Oh, and a Federal Judge has now said it is okie dokie for FedGov to install video cameras on your property without a warrant. Here's the link.
Bullets, beans, band-aids and buddies.
You have been warned.

A human is an animal like any other, sapient thought and our rather irritating habit as a species to over-complicate things does not divorce us from this fact, although it certainly detaches us enough for the general masses to somehow think that we are masters above Nature (even our own).
ReplyDeleteCrap like this only proves it all the more.
Y'know where I see behaviors like this in the wild? Predators and carrion feeders.
In my opinion, Sandy pales in comparison to the Japanese earthquake/tsunami.
ReplyDeleteYet, I don't recall seeing the Japanese act like feral animals one day...ONE DAY...after the event like these tools.
We're gonna need more ammo.
The people like this are ALREADY feral animals. All they need is the slightest 'excuse' to misbehave.
DeleteOh, we've been watching the headlines all right.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's happened exactly as pretty much all of us expected it would.
Riots haven't started... yet. That'll depend on how quickly they get the power back on, and whether or not we get a massive cold snap between now and then.
Also... this will segue nicely into the s(E)lection. Always a nice chance for riots there, especially if origami isn't re-s(E)lected. The people that vote for that guy either have special interests in mind, or have the intellect of mold. Actually, that would be an insult to innocent mold everywhere.
As to the video camera on property without a warrant? Funny... the FEDERAL Constitution seems to state that:
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
The Constitution being the 'law of the land' trumps what some corrupt asshat in a high priest robe says.
One cannot 'interpret' the Constitution. It says what it says, it means what it means. A 6 year old could figure it out. It was intentionally written to be understood by the 'layman'. Anyone saying otherwise has their own agenda, or is just dumb as a rock.
