Cooper is to Suarez as Jefferson is to Marx
Col. Cooper: Let us reflect upon the fact that a man who covers his face shows reason to be ashamed of what he is doing. A man who takes it upon himself to shed blood while concealing his identity is a revolting perversion of the warrior ethic. It has long been my conviction that a masked man with a gun is a target. I see no reason to change that view. [Emphasis mine - K]
By contrast, here is a bit of Gabe Suarez ideology: When I was on SWAT our view is that "We will always win....even if we have to burn down your entire house by bombing it....we will win". Period.
Followed by this gem from Gabe: Notice that I have not even gotten into the "right or wrong" discussion. Why not? Because it is not relevant.
This Suarez topic has many in our community growling. I think this is because Gabe's recent posts wonderfully articulate the differences between Patriots who genuinely love Liberty and our Countrymen who cherish the coin of the King and choose to feed Ego at the expense of innocents. Gabe helps put a face on one aspect of our national shame.
Here's a piece by Ursus Minor that articulates the conversation well.
And here is a piece sent to me by The Great and Wonderful Zoomie that fits nicely with our topic.
Stand and be counted, folks. Silence is now consent. Do not let any insult to your Liberty pass without protest, even if your only protest is on a blog or the ballot box. We must raise the volume on our discontent.
We are all in that time when we shall choose to be Free men at Liberty or forever crouch to lick the hands that feed us.

God Bless The Colonel!
ReplyDeleteI had never even heard the name Gabe Suarez before reading your post yesterday but it's pretty clear that he and his type are exactly what is wrong with this country. I'm sure we will have to deal with these people eventually.

This:

The title nails it K.
Ditto. Sure does!
DeleteWell done K.!
ReplyDeleteThe comments in the piece Zoomie sent are just completely over the top! What a bunch of Fucked-up boot licking cheerleaders.
ReplyDeleteCIII
Did any of you read the comments from that piece from Zoomie? People actually supported what the police did. Sure there were some that disagreed, but to me, it is mind bogling that anyone would think that was acceptable.
ReplyDeleteThe other thing that bothers me a lot is just the plain and simple arrogance that Suarez and the whole swat team bunch convey and almost use as a badge of honor. There is a huge difference between being arrogant and being self-confident.
These are the type of people who love war, for then they can do the unspeakable and there are no consequences for their actions. They don't do what they do for the defeat of their enemies, they do it for the sheer pleasure it gives them.
Miss Violet
Yeah. They don't do to well when their alone tho. Not quite as "cocky". By far.

There you go. I knew a guy a long time ago that went to the Sheriffs Academy. He related to me why he quit... A Sgt. closed the door to the class room and said, "Everything on the other side of that door is scum." He walked out that day.
Everything beyond the door IS their enemy.
Using that analogy, you realize that Jefferson wrote the forward to Das Kapital, right? ;)
ReplyDelete(Google up "The Tactical Pistol".)
Sorry Tam, I don't buy for a second that the Colonel would endorse Suarez in light of the latter's recent positions.
DeleteI do think Suarez probably followed the orthodoxy of the time to earn that foreward, maybe earnestly, maybe not.
